Native Californian with a love for all things weather, science, food, and travel.
I was born in Los Angeles, California, but North Carolina raised me. My interest in weather was sparked in middle middle school when Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. I wanted to know everything about hurricanes (i.e structure, forecasting, societal impacts). Ultimately, my interest in hurricanes grew into a full-fledged love for weather.
I graduated from Providence High School knowing I wanted to pursue a career in meteorology. I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where I received my Bachelor’s in Meteorology with minors in Mathematics and Spanish. My education did not end there. I headed to North Carolina A&T State University where I developed plenty of AGGIE PRIDE and received my Master’s degree in Physics with a concentration in atmospheric science.
I started my career as a Freelance Meteorologist at FOX 46 Charlotte in July 2016. During my time as a freelancer, I covered multiple severe thunderstorms and hurricanes that directly impacted North Carolina (Matthew and Hermine). After showing my passion for forecasting and keeping viewers safe, I became the Weekend Morning Meteorologist/Digital Journalist for the station. From there, I covered countless severe weather outbreaks, hurricanes, winter storms, etc.
I joined the weather production team at The Weather Channel in Atlanta, GA, in 2020. During that time, I created weather graphics for the on-camera meteorologists, pitched weather story ideas, and worked closely with the line producer and executive producer to build shows. I covered many different types of weather all over the country!
In October 2021, I joined Spectrum News 1 NC in Raleigh. I’m currently the weekday morning meteorologist for the Triad (Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem). I am enjoying being back in North Carolina! I also teach Broadcast Meteorology at one of my alma maters, North Carolina A&T State University.
When I’m not geeking out about weather and physics, I enjoy experimenting with different recipes in the kitchen. It’s fun to see what I can come up with. It’s way more fun to taste the creations! Traveling is also one of my passions. I’ve visited 10 countries and I’m always looking to add more to the list.
